A unique
cultural vacation
in Bruneck
If you love museums, the area around Bruneck is a true paradise for you. Two museum projects by Reinhold Messner are particularly popular. The MMM Ripa at Bruneck Castle deals with mountain peoples from all over the world and is dedicated to their culture and religion.
Mountain lovers, on the other hand, will get their money's worth at MMM Corones, as this museum on the summit plateau of Kronplatz is dedicated to traditional alpinism. In addition to the adventurous alpine history, you can enjoy the all-round panorama far beyond the national borders. In the South Tyrolean Museum of Folklore you can take a journey into the past and explore the life of the rural population in days gone by, while in the Lumen Museum on the summit of Kronplatz you will admire the most beautiful photographs of different mountain landscapes. In the Mansio Sebatum Archaeological Museum, on the other hand, you will learn interesting facts about the Iron Age and Roman times in South Tyrol.
Castles with long
Traditional value
around Bruneck
Towering high above the town of the same name is Bruneck Castle, which you must not miss when visiting MMM Ripa. The episcopal castle from the 13th century not only allows a beautiful view of the surroundings of Bruneck, but it is also a popular venue for events with its special atmosphere.
To the North of Bruneck you reach Taufers Castle, which impresses with the former drawbridges, the almost completely preserved furnishings of the rooms, the old tiled stoves, the pine wood panelling, the armoury and the Gothic frescoes in the chapel. In addition to guided tours and historical insights, regularly changing exhibitions and events are offered there. In the castle tavern you can fortify yourself with traditional dishes after your tour.
